Altered relations of production (rop) are at the heart of activist practice, and of the material remaking of the fabric of forces of production. Forces of production are materially, **practically** organised by historically distinctive RoPs. They are substantially, historically transformed when their RoPs are altered. In each of three landscapes of practice, RoPs are particular to those particular kinds of materials and forces.

In the pattern language of commoning, altered RoPs lie at the heart of the patterns, and the making of a Living Economy. Each pattern frames **a resolution of some clash** of established and altered RoPs, in the ordering of some constellation of FoPs - a piece of the fabric of living and working.
When RoPs are durably transformed, an altered mode of production (of *society*) is prefigured. When sufficient RoPs are transformed in sufficient pieces of fabric, a new mode of production is achieved.
